WCSEN receives $1500 grant
from Wooster Wal-Mart Manager Rusty Caram
October 1, 2008
Celebrating major renovations to the Wooster store, Wal-Mart issued grants to several area not-for-profit charitable organizations, including a $1500 grant to Wayne County Sustainable Energy Network.
WCSEN acknowledges the efforts of the Wooster Wal-Mart store in recycling used building materials, reducing packaging, and taking advantage of innovations that save energy. For example, the Wooster store has skylights with internal light sensors that turn off inside lighting when daylight levels are high enough.
WCSEN plans to use at least part of this grant to support teaching about renewable energy in Wayne County schools science classes. The Green Power Station is used to demonstrate solar and wind power and includes instrumentation for measuring parameters, a battery, power inverter, and various loads.
The support of the WCSEN mission by Wal-Mart is appreciated.
