Earth Day Poster, 3-D Display, Skit, Song, Poem or Video Competition
Prepare and submit a poster, 3-D display, skit, song, poem or a video on the Earth Day related theme. Win a prize in any of the following categories: Grades 1-3; 4-6; 7-8; 9-12. Individual or groups welcome.
Environmental Stewardship Essay Competition
Write an essay of about 2000 words on human carbon footprint and describe how will you reduce your own and win a scholarship for college! Font should be not be smaller than 12 and must use one inch margins. First place $500; second place $300; and third place $100. This category is open only to high school juniors and seniors.
Green Campus Design Competition
Calculate ecological footprint of your school/college campus; discuss the findings with your school administrator; and develop a campus sustainability plan. Write a report (no more than 10 pages) describing all the indoor and outdoor factors that you considered, include all calculations, and provide a sustainability plan. Each team must involve a minimum of three students and a teacher/professor. Open to all high school, undergraduate and graduate students, and post-doctoral fellows. Winners will receive a trophy and certificates.
KILOWATT OURS Challenge Competition
Watch a movie KILOWATT OURS: A Plan to Re-Energize America, download curriculum at curriculum@KilowattOurs.org, complete the first seven exercises. Each student should submit their data on the website and print results. Compile results from the entire class and report them on Home Energy Assessment Sheet on page 45. Calculate the total number of KILOWATTS saved for your class and per student. Send the results to us to enter in the competition. The winners will be decided based on the number of KILLOWATTS saved per class and per student. Winners will receive a class pizza party!Download .pdf information file
